Meet mother of two, Renubala, who lives in Sirajganj, Bangladesh. The Jamuna basin, a major river near Renubala’s village, started to swell above the danger line in the first week of July. During floods like this, their house is damaged and there are increased threats including snakes and rats.

In Bangaladesh, WFP has an anticipatory action response that sends warnings to communities and then provides cash via mobile transfers. This particular response was the largest to date with cash assistance sent to approximately 89,560 households in the most affected regions.
